Contactless IC Card, also called radio-frequency card, successfully solved the tough passive problem (no power supply in the card) and contactless technology. This is a great breakthrough in the field of electronic devices. The card is mainly used in the automatic charge system in public transport, ferry, subway, also in gate supervision, identity evidence, elecctronic pocket and so on. At present, the typical application of it in our country is the second-generation ID, transportation card, etc.
In the field of contactless cards, the group mainly produces the second-generation ID, Shanghai civil transportation cards as well as all kinds of social cards. China Card Group has so far gained five patents in the area. The cards that the group is able to produce also include those which can comply with the standard of Mifare of NXP (the original Philips), ISO14443, ISO10536. At the present time, MIFARE series account for 80% of the world contactless cards market. They are very suitable for the application in electronic pocket, highway charge system and public transport automatic ticket vendor system and the like. Contactless cards can be divided into TYPE A and TYPE B according to the international standard. MIFARE card is in line with the standard of ISO14443-TYPE A. The standard of TPYE A is card first emerging, then the standard coming out. Then some chip plants, headed by MOTOROLA established the standard of ISO14443-TYPE B. According to the standard of TYPE B, they developed new chips. For the moment, the card adopted the standard of TYPE B has not been widely applied. They are mainly contactless CPU card. TYPE A also has CPU card, such as MIFARE PRO.
In March 2002, our company passed the joint inspection of Ministry of Public Security of PRC and Ministry of Information Industry of China, and was appointed to be one of the fixed manufacturers of the second-generation China ID card. In the process of the production of our national ID cards since September 2004, Shanghai China Card created a rate of 99.97% for finished products, keeping ahead in the world. Our company produced cumulative total of 90 million second-generation ID cards, getting high reputation in this field. Besides, Shanghai China Card also became the fixed manufacturer plant for Shanghai public transportation cards and Shanghai highway cards, with cumulative total of 15 million cards. Till the end of October 2007, Shanghai China Card has produced accumulative total of 130 million contactless smart cards, making great contribution to the development of China contactless IC card industry.
Compared with the traditional Contact IC Card, Contactless IC Card succeeded the advantages from traditional Contact IC Card, such as great capability, high security, etc. Meanwhile, it overcame such inevitable shortcomings as high fault rate when reading and writing, stain, mar and abrasion of the touch spot caused by its exposure, static electricity, inconvenient using process when inserting the card and some others. The completely sealed pattern and contactless working style of contactless IC cards avoid itself from being damaged by the outer harmful factors, thus making its service life approach the natural life of IC chip. So, the degree for usage frequency, longevity and the convenience of the operation are greatly higher than contact IC card. From this point of view, contactless IC cards not only show the achievements of the development of the cards for so many years, but also embloy a new milestone in its application. At the same time, the naissance of international standard ISO14443 for contactless IC cards made it compatible with contact IC cards, which increases endless potential for the contactless card. |
