In both China and foreign countries, RFID tags have been widely applied to fields such as logistic, counterfeit-proof and theft-proof.
1.counterfeit-proof
        The prevailing counterfeit-proof technology in China adopts visual and code measures, but counterfeits in currency still have the value of RMB 130 billion, with a loss in tax revenue of more than 25 billion. Only cigarette counterfeiting causes tens of billions loss. Due to its easy-to-use and counterfeit-proof, RFID tag currently is the best choice in counterfeit-proof products.
        Shanghai Institute of Standardization uses read-write and encrypted RFID tags to transform commodity barcode and related information to a unique fingerprint code of each commodity by PKI technology. The code is printed on commodity and also, written in to the RFID tag that is affixed on the commodity by digital signature encryption. To verify the commodity, using a reader to read code stored in the tag and compare with the one printed on the commidity to see whether they are the same. The stated digital signature counterfeit-proof technology has been approved by the Administration of Quantity Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Automated production lines
        With RFID tags, it achieves automatic control and surveillance in production lines, and improves productivity and mode of production, and hence a reduction in costs. For example, BMW uses RFID tags in the assembly lines to produce customized cars. IC manufacturers such as Motorola and SGS Thomson have adopted RFID automatic identification procedure control system. It prevents the huge losses caused by production errors, and also conforms to the requirement of ultra-clean production environment of semiconductor.
Warehouse management
        Applying RFID tag to warehouse management effectively settles the problem in warehousing information management. In large warehouse, the management centre can control the real-time position of goods and storage information of goods. Rail transport monitoring
        Train operation has the advantage of given route when using RFID system. Thus monitoring train operation can be achieved by placing readers along its route. A train can be identified by reading its data. It monitors the safe operation of the train, as well as the integrality of the train to avoid crash caused by omitted carriages. Meanwhile railway station can re-grouping carriages. In other countries, initially, this was done by reading the side barcode on carriages using ultrasonic and radar measuring system, while it now has been gradually replaced by RFID ayatem.
Luggage tracking management
        At present, distribution of civil aviation and postal luggages relies on manual work. It is slow in speed, while high in error rate and cost. If it adopts RFID automatic identification and distribution, it will reduce overall cost and error rate, while improve efficiency, and also will be able to track and manage goods.
Access ccontrol security
        RFID can be conveniently and safely applied to access control security, as well as entrance security check, attendance check and corporate assets monitoring, etc. Because it recognizes multi-tags at the same time, people do not have to line up for card reading before work. In the cases which require high security level, it can combine other identification methods such as fingerprints and palm prints. This security system was adopted by the security agencies of Olympic Games, 1996.

Highway automatic tolling
        At present, in China, highway develops very fast, which becomes more and more important in regional economic development. However, the current manual tolling system always causes lining up in front of the tolling station. This can be solved by applying RFID to highway automatic tolling. Tolling can be done automatically when vehicles with RFID tags pass through the tolling station.
Financial RF card
        Paperless transaction in financial charging is ineviatable. In this field, RF card is a start. RF card is a type of RFID tag. Comparing with other charging methods, financial RF card is more applicable in various environments, including harsh environments that magnetic cards and IC cards cannot be applied. And its unique easy-to-use enables gradual expanding of its use in this field. Because the storage unit of RFID tag can be divided and each subarea can use different encryption system, one tag can be used in tolling systems in different department. It is, at the same time, a hospitalization insurance card, a pass, a driving licence and a passport. Multi-application card is in accord with the future development trend. The Shanghai public transport card now can be used in subway, light rail, taxis, ferries and buses.

4.others:
Automobile security
        Because of the development of RFID tag which is small enough to be put into the key, the RFID tag can be conveniently applied to the automobile security. Reader in the car will identify the key when inserting the key. If reader cannot receive specific signal sent from the tag, the central computer will turnoff the engine. This can easily prevent the common car theft. Most models of Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi and Hyundai have adopted RFID to prevent theft. If the RFID tag is applied to cars key components, and with car manufacturer, distributor and user information stored in the tag, the car can be tracked when it is stolen.
Animal husbandry
        Implanting the RFID tag into livestock lsuch as cattle and sheep can prevent bad biological products from entering the market. Also it can automatically store real-time information of the livestock to a computer, thus it is easy to control the growth and health condition of each individual livestock. This achieves automatic breeding and management.
        Implanting the tag into pets enables people to identify pets without certificates, and claim lost pets.
        These are some applications of RFID tags, in fact its applications are far more than these. With the fast spread of RFID technology in our country, there will be more application areas. The advantages of the technology itself enables it to have wider application prospect and huge market potential.
